Lot 18 Flintlock Kentucky Rifle

Flintlock Kentucky Rifle, signed on top barrel flat ''C. Richwine - Reading, PA'', .48 cal. smoothbore, 41'' octagonal-to-round barrel, 56'' overall, curly maple stock with the classic region's Roman nose butt, brass mounts include the full-length sideplate and single trigger. Ca. 1820 period. Condition is very good overall, as reconverted back to its original flintlock configuration. There are two (2) ¬'' slivers of wood replacements, one under the rear lockplate area and another about mid-way on the forend, both having been nicely replaced. A strip of wood is missing along the top of the forward right forend. Stock retains a nice medium tone patina, as does the barrel and brass mounts. Overall a good-looking period long barrel Kentucky rifle. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (Antique)
